The news last week that privately owned Cabinets To Go had made an offer to buy LL Flooring could bring together two of the bigger sellers of key home improvement and remodeling products, creating a bigger competitor to the DIY doppelgangers Home Depot and Lowes. LL, which you may remember better from its previous incarnation as Lumber Liquidators, has said it will review the offer but when retail merger and acquisition talks start they rarely end without a deal being done. One more fascinating footnote: Both companies were started by the same person…the very same person now running CTG and trying to put his two creations together.
