Twice a year the furniture industry gathers in High Point, NC — look it up on a map if you don’t know where that is — to engage in its us-versus-them ritual of buying and selling the big wooden boxes, grey couches (which the industry refuses to call anything but sofas) and let’s not forget the credenzas that will turn up in American homes next year.
