With its new deal to link up with Haworth — the upscale furniture house — Ralph Lauren is taking a new approach to reviving a key part of its overall home furnishings business. While the program will include made-to-order products sourced from Italy, the most intriguing part of the arrangement is the news that Haworth will open free-standing Ralph Lauren home stores, a component that has been missing ever since the brand was launched 40 years ago. It’s a great opportunity, but they have a lot of catching up to do.
