
Lowe’s has become the latest retailer to cave in to outside pressure to dial back its initiatives on the diversity, equity and inclusion front, joining a growing number of businesses that are taking similar steps. Even as a new survey says the majority of CEOs believe in these programs, social media protests are forcing them to reverse course. I’m allowed to say it: I don’t like it. DEI and good business is not an either/or proposition: companies can do both to their benefit and that of the country.
