
With a new CEO on the way to the troubled mid-market department store, this could be the last best chance for Kohl’s to get its act together. Outgoing president Tom Kingsbury took care of some of the problems there but it was mostly low-hanging fruit and he never was able to repair the core apparel, beauty, jewelry and footwear categories that are the heart and soul of the company. Ashley Buchanan did some very good work at Michaels and comes with a strong Walmart pedigree on his resume as he takes over Kohl’s. It won’t be easy.
