For someone who says he doesn’t care much for old school industries like apparel, textiles and furniture, Donald Trump seems to be paying a lot of attention to the latter. Maybe it’s his revenge for his own failed furniture collection a decade or two ago — it was all made in China, in case you forgot — or maybe he just needed something new to inflict pain and suffering on. Whatever the reason, his new tariffs on upholstery (30 percent) and continued threats about case goods are upending an already unsettled and utterly downtrodden industry. It’s what he does.
