Anybody else dazed and confused by the Bed Bath & Beyond announcement naming its VP of Stores Eugene Castagna as president and COO? Following the departure of Art Stark from that post last month, industry insiders expected the company would bring in and/or promote somebody from the merchandising side to the position, which also had been chief merchant. Didn’t happen and according to the statement from the company, no chief merchant has been named. The risk-adverse, internal-focused culture at BBB continues to be the mandate for the company.
I don’t get it.
