
It’s not exactly a return to the good old days but they’re building a new factory in Virginia to make, of all things, towels. After virtually the entire home textiles industry decamped for Asia in the early 2000s there have been a few small forays back into domestic production. But it has a lot more to do with currency rates, speed-to-market and product assortments than it does with global politics. And anyone who thinks this is the start of the wholesale return of manufacturing in the United States is…wait for it…Stupid.
