
The news that a giant Starbucks will open in the Chicago space that was formerly the defacto flagship of home furnishings retailer Crate & Barrel shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone following the wonderful world of retailing. The move to food, beverage and hospitality in place of just selling stuff has been gaining momentum for years and this just confirms how important a trend this is. If you’re not paying attention, well, then you are probably the opposite of Smart.
