Who’s Hiring, Who’s Firing in Retail

Retailing really has become a tale of two parallel universes: one in which more than 150 companies have shut down all of their stores and many, many more have closed at least some of them, resulting in more than one million lost jobs. The other is the retail segment selling essentials — super markets, drug stores, mass merchants with household basics — who are open and hiring, ironically to the tune of one million new jobs.
