The bankruptcy of iconic home furnishings store ABC Carpet & Home this week is particularly sad. Not all that long ago it was the most iconic retailer in the entire home furnishings space, a must-see for anyone in the business and a destination for an entire generation — or two — of shoppers. Can it ever come back? It would be Stupid to say absolutely not, but the smart money says it’s not going to be easy.
