Can Wayfair Get Physical?

They are the biggest online seller of home furnishings products — $14 billion a year and counting — but up until now they have had virtually no physical presence. But that’s about to change for Wayfair, which will open a handful of sub-brand (AllModern and Joss & Main) stores in the Boston area later this year and then a big mothership branded location in Chicagoland in 2023. It’s a late start and it’s a modest one too, which begs the question if the giant online seller can get to omnichannel heaven before they close the doors.
