Regular readers here — some irregular too — will know my sister site, Retaileroftheweek.com, picks a winner every week, a retailing operation that has done something interesting, successful or otherwise notable that has caught my attention. This time of the year I go through the honorees for the past 52 weeks and select finalists for Retailer of the Year.
This year, the contenders are a fascinating group, ranging from Big Box national chains to groups of companies that have addressed social, political and environmental issues in a compelling way. I welcome your opinions on who should be the winner — announced next week — but one caveat: this is not a democracy and the decision of this particular judge is final.
