Eight months into his job as CEO of Lowe’s, Marvin Ellison is remaking the home improvement chain, reconstructing parts of the business, deconstructing others. It’s a big change of tactics — and speed — from his last job as CEO of Penney, where his sense of urgency just didn’t seem to be there. Some of the moves are pretty smart, but one only wishes he acted as strategically at JCP which continues to pay the price of poor management decisions over the past several administrations. Stupid? Maybe.
