It’s taken a long time, but I’ve finally changed my mind about Eddie Lampert. No, not that he’s been terrible for Sears and has destroyed two of what were once the best retailers in America. No, I’ve believed that since 2004.
What has changed is my thinking on why he continues to do it. I used to think he was brilliant…at least brilliant at making money for himself. But now I truly believe it’s something else entirely. And it’s not Smart at all.
