The decline of the Great American Department Store is even worse than you think. I just compiled some new research on the number of department stores that have closed since 2018 and the total is shocking. It represents almost a quarter of all these type stores that existed then.

And you’ve got to think that anybody running a department store today has to be frantically trying to come up with a new business model. If they are not, you know what they are: Stupid.

Here’s my new Forbes.com post on all of this: https://www.forbes.com/sites/warrenshoulberg/2020/07/21/unprecedented-decline-one-fifth-of-all-american-department-stores-have-closed-since-2018/#330ccad32ef0
