Remember the old Steve Martin comedy bit? Well, mall operators and retail real estate operators aren’t laughing about the movement from retailers to downsize existing stores and open much smaller footprints going forward. It’s a Covid by-product but it was happening before the pandemic. Now it’s speeding up and getting more widespread. As foot traffic declines and more people shop online, there’s nothing Stupid about it.
