I’ve selected the 2021 Retailer of the Year as part of my year-long acknowledgment of the Retailers of the Week on my sister website. Last week I identified the eight finalists: Costco, Ikea, RH, Shopify, Target, Walmart, Warby Parker and Williams Sonoma and today the winner was announced. For anyone who has followed retail this year, the winner will be somewhat obvious although each of the finalists had outstanding accomplishments in what was one of the toughest — and oddest — years in retail business history. There’s also an honorable mention, somebody not from this list of finalists.
