Pop Goes the Retailer

I’ve just seen the freshest new retail format I’ve come across in years. Part HomeGoods, part convenience store, part Bed Bath & Beyond and part dollar store, Popshelf is a hybrid format that seems to take choice bits from many different retailing sectors and combine them into something we haven’t seen before. That’s saying something in the very crowded world of retailing where every niche is seemingly occupied.

Popshelf — it’s owned by Dollar General and has been around for more than a year with about 75 locations now — is worth a visit next time you’re in one of their neighborhoods. That’s what I did recently as part of a series called The Good The Bad & The Ugly I do for Home Textiles Today, the business publication for the bed and bath soft home industry.

Here’s my take on Popshelf: https://www.hometextilestoday.com/merchandising/the-good-the-bad-the-ugly-popshelf-warren-shoulberg/
