A Not-so-Fine State of Affairs

As American retailers and other businesses are allowed to reopen it’s a big challenge to sort it out: which stores can open in which states and when? A look at what some of the more aggressive states are doing only adds to the confusion. In one state you can get a haircut but not sit down for a meal in a restaurant. In another you can go bowling but in others you can’t go to the movies. It’s yet another example of how national leadership has once again let us down on coordinating a big-picture approach to dealing with this massive crisis. A functional nationwide policy wouldn’t solve everything… but it would help. In the meantime we are left with states adapting policies that are based on neither science nor medical facts. It’s beyond Stupid. It’s deadly.

Here’s a rundown of what some of the states being more assertive are up to, from my new Forbes.com post: https://www.forbes.com/sites/warrenshoulberg/2020/04/29/american-retail-reopenssort-of-a-state-by-state-guide-to-whats-back/#676e8cf439c6
