What really sunk Pier 1? Sure, the coronavirus shutdown was the final hole in their boat, but the reasons for the one-time lovable home decor chain’s demise are many and go back decades. They are also largely self-inflicted. One more thing: Most of the bad decisions the company made to get to this point were also pretty Stupid.
